Bethesda House…
Pine Ridge Nursery School has a Christmas tradition of giving back
something to the community. Once again, we have chosen Bethesda House, our
local shelter for women and children. Beginning the second week of November
you will find a collection box in the hallway. A representative from
Bethesda House has indicated that at Christmas time, the children of
families living at the shelter can go through the donated items and choose a
gift for their mom. As well, Bethesda House packs hampers for many families
that have gone through the shelter in the past year. Toys, pajamas,
slippers, personal care items, etc.…would be most welcome. Items should be
new and unused. Thank you for your kindness.
Christmas Party Plans...
On December 11 and 12 we will celebrate the holidays with a Christmas
Concert in the church gym. The children will prepare a musical presentation
for you to enjoy! A letter with more information will be distributed in
November.
Other Notes
Police Checks: If you have a current (done in the last 6 months) Vulnerable
Sector Check (VSC) you may want to consider bringing it in to be copied and
kept on file. We plan a school bus trip every June that you can sign up to
attend if you have a current police check. It must be no more than 6 months
old when presented to the school, but then can be good for up to 5 years if
a declaration is signed annually.
Portfolios: Every child creates
a portfolio over the course of the school year. This scrapbook contains
artwork your child creates, photos taken at school and more. The teachers
utilize the professional resource “How Does Learning Happen?” Ontario’s
Pedagogy for the Early Years as a guide to support and document
inquiry-based learning in the classroom. The portfolios will be available
bi-monthly for you to view/initial. Please replace the portfolio into the
class box once you have viewed it. The portfolio will be sent home at the
end of the school year.
November will be a very busy month! We
look forward to the many fun events planned with your children. They have
learned the routines and are now settled into the program. It is wonderful
to watch them learn and gain new skills!
